Directors

Phil Vaccaro

Phil comes with a tremendous background in the sport of soccer.  Having coached many years at the high school varsity level, both at Somerville HS and Reading Memorial HS, Phil is among the most well-known and well-established coaches in the history of Massachusetts high school soccer.  He currently serves as Director of Athletics at Reading Memorial High School.  Here are just a few of his amazing accomplishments:

Leo Figueiredo

Leo is one of the most decorated soccer players in the New England area.  Born in Portugal and raised in Brazil, Leo moved to Somerville, MA in high school.  Having been drafted out of Southern Connecticut State College (now SCSU) into both the North American Soccer League (Edmonton Drillers) and the Major Indoor Soccer League (Hartford Hallions, later moved to Memphis), Leo chose to play in the MISL for the Memphis Americans.  He was one of the top performers on the team during his tenure.  He later featured in the Luso American Soccer League in MA as both a player and a player coach.  Here are some of Leo’s more notable accomplishments:

  • High School All-Scholastic
  • Nat’l Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) / Adidas All-American
  • Professional Player with the Memphis Americans of the MISL
  • Former Assistant Coach at Boston College
  • 1994 – Coach of the Reading Memorial HS Undefeated Middlesex League Champs
  • Massachusetts Club Soccer coach for 10 years


Nick Figueiredo

Nick is Leo’s oldest son and established himself as one of the best players in New England during his high school & college careers.  Nick attended high school at St. John’s Prep in Danvers, MA and after graduating attended Bowdoin College, a prestigious liberal arts college (where he received his B.A. in Economics) with a nationally recognized soccer program.  Nick played in every game the soccer program competed in during his four years, having started every game of each of his last three seasons.  Nick finished his college career as Bowdoin’s all-time leader in Career Points, Goals Scored, and Single Season Assists.  Nick has coached at Soccer Doctor for 10 years and has coached and played for Boston Aztec SC for 3 years.  Here are some of his accomplishments:

  • NESCAC Player of the Year 2007
  • Bowdoin College Male Athlete of the Year 2007-2008

Bill Lanagan

Bill is a very well-established Massachusetts high school soccer coach.  Bill graduated from Colby College where he played varsity soccer for four years in one of the most well-known Div. III New England colleges.  He coached Malden Catholic High School for several years where he groomed many of his players for college soccer, and he currently coaches at Thayer Academy in Braintree, MA.  Bill has been with Soccer Doctor for 10 years.

Lauren Rappoli

Lauren is a graduate of Wilmington HS and Stonehill College.  Lauren was a three sport, four year varsity athlete, lettering in Soccer, Basketball, and Softball.  Lauren was named a Cape Ann League All-Star in all three sports, most notably in soccer both her Junior and Senior seasons at WHS.  At Stonehill College Lauren majored in Education and played Softball for the Skyhawks for Four seasons.

 

Matt Figueiredo

Matt is Leo’s youngest son, and has quietly developed into one of the best players in Massachusetts.  Matt was a two-time Cape Ann League All-Star at Wilmington High School and is currently a student-athlete at Salem State.  After just one season at Salem State Matt has already made a name for himself.  Having started every game for the Vikings, Matt established himself as the team’s greatest offensive threat and twice earned Athlete of the Week honors from Salem State.  Matt was named the 2008 MASCAC Rookie of the Year, and will play for the Boston Aztec in the summer of ‘09 in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), the highest amateur soccer league in the United States.

Mike Sheedy

Mike is currently the head coach of the Varsity Women’s soccer team at Reading Memorial HS, where he has led the Rockets as far as the Div-I North Championship.  Mike has many years of coaching experience and has been with Soccer Doctor for about 12 years.
